Green Energy Smoothie

Today, I am sharing another drink recipe that is more on the healthier side. A healthy green energy smoothie that is full of vitamins and sure to give you an energy boost. Green smoothies are called such because they usually contain a lot of dark greens and other veggies that make them taste a bit bitter. This recipe uses spinach leaves, broccoli, and a little bit of celery.

This green smoothie adds in enough fruit so that you have a balance of veggies and fruits and it’s enjoyable to drink. You can always use whatever you have available at home. So if you don’t have fresh spinach on hand, but you have kale. Then throw the kale in instead. You can add unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk for the liquid, whichever you prefer. The pineapple is not part of this recipe, but if you are not used to green smoothies then adding more sweeter fruit might help. So add it in as a healthy sweetener. The mint leaves and chia seeds are also both optional. The chia seeds add more protein.

  1. Wash all the fruits and veggies thoroughly.
  2. Cut the celery, broccoli, apple, banana, and kiwi into large chunks.
  3. Add all the ingredients into the blender along with 3/4 cup of almond milk OR coconut milk, and chia seeds. Blend on high until everything blends well. TIP: Taste the smoothie and add some pineapple if you want to sweeten it.
  4. Serve as is or if you want it thinner, add the remaining 1/4 cup of almond milk OR coconut milk. Garnish with a sprig of mint. Enjoy!

Storage: Best if served at once, but you can store it in an airtight bottle for up to a day in the refrigerator.
